The

In 1981, at an antiques show in
Greenfield, Massachusetts,
My wife and I were browsing
among the glass displays of a
dealership called "The Blue
Unicorn", when we noticed an
attractively shaped compote with
a hexagonal stem base and very
graceful handles on both sides
of the bowl.

Until that time, we had only
collected old razor paraphernalia
for me and 19th century science
textbooks for Joyce, but the glass
attracted us so much that we
decided to buy it. We also
noticed a signature (Krys-tol) on
the inside bottom of the bowl.
